Celebrating Samhain 2008

As I’ve done regularly every year for the past… um… nearly thirty years I think, I celebrated Samhain with a few… a very few… close friends last night.
“Officially” we’re a group that was established in ’79. Always very small (never more than a half-dozen or so, and sometimes a lot less) and over the years, sadly, most of the faces have changed. In fact, I’m the only one left of the original group “lineup”. But of course, all the past members are still with us in spirit, and in our minds.

What’s made this year different however has been our relatively new embracing of photography. So we decided to take a few pics of our celebration. The bits of it that we don’t mind making public that is.

As ever, I’ve uploaded my shots of the evening to Flickr, but some of the pics may not show up to the casual visitor as, to see them all, one needs to be logged in and with safety filters off! (Nothing offensive or “naughty” I’d hasten to add… just that there’s a couple that may be considered by some of the more prudishly-minded as “unsuitable” for younger folk.)

Anyway, here’s a taster…

Looking forward to checking them out. And my filters are always off. No censorship in this house!

Nothing terribly exciting in the set but its the first time we’ve tried something like this… or even thought about it.
Serves several purposes really. Fun thing to do. Another exercise in photography. Sharing a little bit of what we’re about as a group. And also as a sort of documentary record for the group itself.

And evidence for the courts when they trail begins…

    Yeah… there’s that as well.

I, for one, am thankful you decided to share a little of your celebration. I found the photos very fascinating. Unfortunately, this year, our Nov 1 (New Year)celebration, I didn’t take any photos. I should have but there would have been a lot of dark shots. I could have gotten many of the wonderful huge bonfire we had…

    Thanks Tam 🙂

Ah… bonfires! Yep, I love bonfires!
